Working Towards a Better Tomorrow

“Your (CherYsh) research on microgrid finance explains both the microgrid business model and why it is poorly understood by the financial community. By combining qualitative, quantitative, and experimental methods and by spanning several fields of knowledge such as engineering, risk management, utility management, and finance you created new knowledge that may lead to the formation of an entirely new asset market with the potential of transforming millions of lives around the world”. Professor Bo Carlsson (Harvard ’68, PhD Stanford ’72)

CherYsh developed a transformational micro energy business model that brings digital energy to low-income communities at a lower cost and enables additional new benefits of economic opportunity.  Our prototype micro energy plant is being operationalized in Jinja, Uganda, with the aim to enable a) sustainable energy production controlled by digital capabilities b) lower cost of electricity c) developing entrepreneurial opportunities in local communities as micro energy operators d) developing ancillary electrical services within the community as a business e) providing new aggregate and individual social profile identity data in digital form for third market operators for revenue generation f) which thereby provides increased access to capital g) as to develop economic opportunities which h) increase gender participation.

This model will be published with supporting data over the next two years with the hope that the CherYsh model when implemented in low-income communities can provide a sustainable economic environment.

Girls Education

We apply community- supported models for girls’ education in low-income contexts. Our promotion of girls’ education is through localized and flexible education models that recognize these models, establish innovative and inclusive partnerships, and ensure the sustainability of these models.
We pilot relevant, responsive, and feasible education service delivery models for girls who are inaccessible to existing public and private services. Our innovative and inclusive partnership frameworks provide the required technical, material, and financial resources necessary. We work closely with local government during the design and implementation of flexible service delivery models and factor in the aspiration, expectations, and preferences of local low-income communities. We aim for sustainability through the initiation and establishment of service models and community engagement is a key dimension of our models for girls’ education

Women Holding Hands

Women’s Economic Opportunity (Livelihood)

CherYsh America sponsored several women economic empowerment programs over the past several years in Southern India. Our goal is to promote entrepreneurial opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, women become empowered by their own abilities and new skills to fulfill their potential in rural home based industries. We apply a concept titled ‘The Circle’, which is used as the organizational structure for a group of women who gather to learn a skill, resource utilization, production, delivery schedules, marketing, and sales. The ‘Circle’ is the mechanism to organize, respect and build knowledge and skills of the group and are facilitated by a group leader or facilitator, from within or outside the ‘Circle’, who is an expert on a particular product being made in the ‘Circle’. Two leading ‘Circle’ programs have been running ‘Plant Nurseries’ for sugarcane cash crops for 2 planting seasons in the year and a ‘Teacher’ certification programs that enable women to run their own after-school programs.
